Garrett joined our board in 2019. He is the Community Outreach Manager of Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah. His program assesses need for, implements, and evaluates cancer prevention education and community engagement efforts across Utah and the Mountain West. Garrett collaborates with internal clinical and research programs and external community partners to educate and address health equity in targeted populations with projects ranging from radon awareness and tobacco policy, to cancer screening, sun safety, and lifestyle factors related to primary prevention. Garrett received a bachelor of science in Public Health and a minor in Communications from Brigham Young University. He is a trained patient navigator, certified tobacco cessation facilitator, and is fluent in Spanish. In addition to his role at HCI, he serves on the executive committee of the Utah Cancer Action Network and as Vice-Chair of the Utah Tobacco Free Alliance.
